Select Jewelers, a comprehensive jewelry store located inside the Great Lakes Mall, has an interesting history that began in 2004 when Salma J Khan and her husband Nabeel Athar, educated and experienced, decided to venture into the jewelry business. 

They started by acquiring a struggling jewelry retail business called Millennium Gold, which had been operating at the Randall Mall since 1996. With their business acumen and commitment, they managed to revamp the business, diversify its product range, and reposition it, ultimately increasing its sales by more than 50%. 

This success led to the relocation of the business to a larger space under the name Select Jewelers in February 2006. The business continued to thrive, experiencing growth and respect in the following years.

In response to the recession and the closure of stores at Randall Park Mall, Select Jewelers expanded its retail operations to the Great Northern Mall in the summer of 2008. 

However, due to the mall’s closure, they had to close their Randall Mall location in February 2009. Despite the challenges, the company persevered and even added a small stand inside the Great Northern Mall in the summer of 2009 to offer a wider range of lower-priced jewelry items. 

By June 2010, Select Jewelers operated from the historic Parmatown Mall, later renamed Shoppes at Parma, with an in-line store and a kiosk. In 2014 Select Jewelers acquired the current space in the Great Lakes Mall and revamped the retail space to accommodate another of its locations. 

With the opening of the Great Lakes Mall location, the company expanded its operations into Lake County. This past May of 2024, Select Jewelers have completed 10 years in the Lake County of North East Ohio. 

However, the location at Parmatown Mall had to be closed due to the demolition of the Parmatown Mall.

During the last 10 years of being inside the Great Lakes Mall, the company has improved its quality of service and customization process and added a few more product lines to its already comprehensive product line.

Select Jewelers prides itself on selling fine jewelry made of precious metals and stones, including karat gold and genuine diamonds. Its product range includes bridal jewelry, traditional jewelry, anniversary bands, and rings, men’s jewelry and gifts, as well as a variety of other items such as anklets, toe rings, children’s jewelry, brooches and pins, stackable rings, and much more. 

All these products as mentioned earlier can be personalized and customized according to one’s preferences and choices. Additionally, Select Jewelers offers watch replacement battery services and comprehensive watch and jewelry repairs on-site and off-site.

In addition to fine jewelry, Select Jewelers sells fine watches from popular brands such as Bertucci and Luminox. 

With its commitment to quality and customer service, Select Jewelers has built a strong customer base in Mentor, Painesville, Willoughby, Chardon, Chsterland, Lakeshore, and neighboring cities in Lake County. 

The customer base, however, extends from the Eastern extremities of Geauga County to the Western end of Cuyahoga County.
